Fact:
Most of the bikes that had problems ran dynojet kits.
What works best on a dynojet dyno does not work best in the real world. Simple fact
- even with their latest greatest inertia dynos with eddy current brakes hung on
them - tuning to fictitious "A/F Ratios -
Riders, when given a chance, usually prefer EC997 dyno tuning results -
The dynojet kits had "stepped" needles and at part throttle, the carbs would alternate between too rich (skinny part of step) and too lean (fat side of step). Ours were smoothly tapered and delivered a more even amount of fuel at every throttle position,
Most tuners would question a needle with distinct steps - but - if they ran it on a common dealership level dynojet dyno - it "worked".... so they didn't question it - a few of the luckier ones stopped using the dj kit and switched over (and most still ran their decals because they had a dynojet dyno....).
When asked "What do you about the spark plug
and cylinder head cracking?"
I told them that I didn't have any problems (I'm sure that many didn't believe me)
but that we didn't use a dj kit and if they knew so much that they refused to take
that hint and didn't think that that was the problem, I told them that retarding
the ignition timing would help their problem.......
And the 750 stock engine class bikes in our
northern Ca area that were quicker than ours the next year in 89?
We found out several years later that they had Cosworth 883cc high compression big
bore kits in them.....
So much for head to head competition!!

The extension of the laboratory
for engines of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology was completed
in about 1935. Its architect was Rudolf Otto Salvisberg (1882-1940).
He had a successful career in Berlin but returned to Switzerland after
the advent of the Nazis. His architectural style was somewhat similar
to that of Erich Mendelsohn. The staircase of the laboratory is in normal
