Factory Pro Shift STAR kit for
the VL1500 99-09 (just under the clutch assembly Instead of near
the countershaft sprocket.)
Banish the "Boot
Includes Factory Pro's AWESOME Marc Salvisberg designed
Detent Star kit - Changes the rough shifting the M90's are well
known for into the sweetest, smoothest shifting bike in town AND the
quickest non-airshifting bike at the strip - you'll think you bought
a different bike.
Better / quicker 1-2 shifts.
Virtually eliminate missed shifts - up and down.
Quicker 3rd through top gear shifts.
Helps prevent gear and fork damage caused by missed shifts.
Perfect for drag racing
You can decrease your "shift kill" time for better ET's
It makes a "foot" shift an extremely quick
event - Almost eliminate a missed 2nd gear shift (though if you try,
you can still miss it...)
In fact, I'd try the Factory Pro Shift STAR Kit before I pulled the engine
down to "fix" the gear dogs - as long as the gears aren't damaged
so much that the gears engage and then pop out at high rpm - that's
symptom of rounded gear dogs.
Includes: Factory Pro designed, refined, CNC machined, heat treated DETENT
Pro's own heavy duty detent spring but NOT a new M90 clutch
cover gasket. Makes shifting
quicker and more positive - "virtually" eliminating missed shifts. The
stronger detent spring rotates the shift drum quicker and the gears
are more likely to engage under quick shift conditions - and "lazy"
shifts work well, too -
The Factory Pro Microbearing removes shift drum friction for the quickest
shifting and fewest missed shifts.
M90 VZ1500 Shift STAR kit install notes:
Installation requires clutch
basket removal. Impact wrench recommended
Does not require case splitting. STAR and arm are under the clutch
on the RH side of the bike.
Estimated shop time: 1.0 to 2.0 hours
Suggest to do when replacing clutch plates.
We do not have detailed install instructions - use
a Suzuki Service Manual to aid in clutch removal.
Be SURE to check that the shift
detent arm does not bind when tightened up. If you shift into an
upper gear, and the bike pops out of gear, consistently - That's an
indicator of a binding shift arm. Some occasional stock bikes are so
If consistently, no matter how you shift, the bike pops out of 3rd,
4th or 5th gear, that's an indicator of the detent mechanism
If it pops out of only 2nd, and not any other gear, that's an
indicator, not of a binding shift arm, but a sign of worn gear dogs
on 2nd gear and the gear it mates with and the 2nd gear shift fork.
You'll find the binding detent arm problem of you follow the Golden
Rule of shift mechanisms:
1. Turning the clutch shaft (so that the gear dogs can line up)
2. Shift through all gears, up and down.
3.The shift star should snap into each gear with some purposefulness
(when the gear dogs line up as you turn the clutch shaft).
4. If the arm doesn't follow the star properly or anything binds,
STOP. Recheck your work and the shift mechanism's mechanicals.
5. If it doesn't shift NOW, it won't shift LATER, after you put
everything else back together. 6. It won't fix itself.
The TEKA line of fuel injection products for the 1500
Boulevard features the Factory Pro designed
Teka SFI FI Programmer
It's the famous Factory pro designed
tool specifically designed to reprogram, in REALTIME, the stock Suzuki
ECU / computer.
Push the button - the mixture changes.
Take off the tool. You are done.
As compared to a power commander, one
Major feature is virtually 100% reliability, as the reliability
is the same as the stock ECU and there is no permanently mounted add-on
box to fail.
Realtime tuning, no maps to lose, no
problems with RF interference, no computer required to tune, no instant
1% to 2% hp loss w/ zero map, Easy to tune - anywhere.
Takes only about 20 seconds to make
changes, easy to change during a 600 mile service, easy to tune for
those new pipes your parts dept. just sold, or you just bought, no waiting
in line for someone to non-optimally "tune to an a/f ratio", fits in
your back pocket, digital accuracy, and do one, a 100 or a 1000 FI Suzuki's.
Best Running - NOT fictitious
Team Vesrah, Suzuki Cup World Champion
Robert Jensen, Hooters Racing and many more have and use the TEKA SFI.
In fact, 5 WERA National Championships and one World Championship were
won using the TEKA SFI.
In real world riding, even one power
commander failure can mean the difference between a beautiful day riding
and a long, miserable fiasco -
Eliminate that problem.
Teka MMT Module
EZ tune MMT (adj. memory module) Power Tube
MMT Power Switch
After tuning with
a Teka SFI 2,
you can use this optional module to fine fine adjust fueling with a
screwdriver adjustable rotary switch.
MMT plugs right in to the bikes tuning port (same
as the SFI).
If tuning with the SFI 2 / MMT combination: The MMT is plugged into the bike, the SFI
2 is plugged into the MMT and all tuning settings from the SFI 2 are
stored in the MMT and automatically transferred to the bike.
After SFI tuning, the SFI is removed and the MMT is left on the bike.
Then, for any fine tuning or adjusting after you maybe change air filters
or similar or high altitude or a lot of freeway riding, you can just
tweak the MMT Power Select Switch to a different number.
"5" = "as tuned with the SFI 2
"6" to "9" = incrementally richer
"4" to "1" = incrementally richer
"0" = "All zero ECU settings
If tuning with the MMT only (without custom SFI
tuning): If just installing an MMT without SFI custom
retuning, just installing the MMT will allow you to adjust, globally,
incrementally richer or leaner with the Power Select rotary switch.
If you first install an MMT and decide the have
it custom tuned with the SFI 2, no problem. Just plug the SFI 2 into the MMT's Tuning port and tune that perfect
Then, you still have the ability to "trim" map for
conditions with the Power Select Switch - and you even have, by setting
it at "0", to recheck how the "zero" map was in comparison to your "SFI
EZ install - all stock connectors, no splicing.
The TEKA SFI adjuster port is under the LH side
of the fuel "cowling", near the steering stem.
Absolutely NO carb parts sold in California.

The extension of the laboratory
for engines of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology was completed
in about 1935. Its architect was Rudolf Otto Salvisberg (1882-1940).
He had a successful career in Berlin but returned to Switzerland after
the advent of the Nazis. His architectural style was somewhat similar
to that of Erich Mendelsohn. The staircase of the laboratory is in normal
use but well preserved.
